Second Storey Apartment Living

A family with two grown daughters inspired a second storey extension on the family home.

The Brief

Barry’s daughters were looking to move out and buy a piece of land for themselves. However, after shopping around, they decided that they loved the location, accessibility and neighbourhood of their family home. They approached their parents with the idea of adding a second storey extension to the family home. One which would allow each of them to have a small apartment to themselves.

“We had looked at other builders but Allan came out and was able to show the girls a 3D image presentation which completely sold it to them.”

The Project

The second storey consists of two apartments located at either end of the house. Each apartment has a queen size bedroom with an ensuite and a walk-in robe. They also both have a second bedroom which can be used as a study. The apartments share a living area and internal stairs which connect to the lower level of the house.

The Process

“It was a unique experience for us as we were able to stay in the house at all times and continue our normal life. Throughout the whole process, we were not inconvenienced at all. The builders and subbies were ever so obliging and respectful of the fact we were still living there. On their part, it was a perfect build. We were quoted a time and price and they delivered. The workmanship is also fantastic. The build has been complete for about eight months and it has not needed any maintenance- it is absolutely brilliant.”

And the result…

“Total Lifestyle Builders were excellent and faultless. If I had another house and wanted to build an extension, I wouldn’t look anywhere else. From the initial process to the build and the finished product- everything was perfect.”
