Before Home Extension

After seeing an ad for Total Lifestyle Builders, the Chuggs considered the possibility of a second level extension to solve their space problems.  Wanting a large, hotel style master suite and an open-plan family living space downstairs, the Chugg’s needed a specialised architect / builder to fulfill their wishes.

The Process

The large, executive parents’ retreat was built on the second level.  At over 100sqm, the new space included the bedroom, hotel / spa-style ensuite, generous WIR, living area and kitchenette.  The Chugg’s also included an upstairs guest room.

Statement Staircase

Part of the design included a stunning statement staircase dividing the entertainment area from the kitchen.  The Tasmanian Oak, mono-stringer staircase is the main focal point of the home, a talking point from both upstairs and down.

Structural Implications

The rear downstairs bedrooms were opened up to create a large entertainment area walking out to a new pool pavilion.  The structural implications of building a second level extension above a large, open-plan area could only be resolved by a qualified architect.  This is where using Total Lifestyle Builders paid off for the Chuggs, they got both a huge, open plan living space and the generous master suite they dreamt of

 Client’s thoughts…

We now have a home that is wonderful for both us & our boys.  We have our own area that we can retreat to for a little peace & quiet, & we have plenty of fun space for the boys in their rooms & the games room.
